Team Chat gives you four distinct ways to communicate, each designed for a different purpose — from a team-wide group chat to private messages to conversations tied directly to a specific deal or record.
Team Chat
Team Chat is a single shared conversation that includes everyone in your FreedomSoft account. Think of it as your company-wide group chat — it's always there, and every member of your account is automatically part of it.
Channels
Channels are named, members-only group conversations — for example, "#Acquisitions" or "#Dispositions." Only Chat Managers can create and manage Channels. Members only see Channels they've been added to, and a Channel appears in their sidebar as soon as they're added.
Direct Messages
Direct Messages are private conversations between you and one or more teammates. To start one, click the New message (+ / pencil) button in the sidebar, then choose who you want to message. Only the people you include can see the conversation.
Record Chats
Record Chats are conversations attached to a specific record in FreedomSoft — a Seller Lead, Buyer Lead, Property, Buyer, or Contact. To start one, open the record and click the Team Chat button on that record's page.
Only team members who already have access to that record in FreedomSoft can see its Record Chat. This keeps deal-specific conversations focused and secure.
How the Sidebar Is Organized
Conversations are grouped in the sidebar in this fixed order, with the most recently active conversation at the top of each section:
- Team Chat
- Channels
- Direct Messages
- Record Chats
Good to Know
- A Record Chat is only visible to people who already have access to that record — it cannot be used to share a deal with someone who wouldn't normally see it.
- Only Chat Managers can create Channels. If you need a new Channel, reach out to a Chat Manager on your team.
