As your team becomes more active in Team Chat, knowing how to quickly spot new messages, manage notifications, and find past conversations will save you a lot of time.
Unread Indicators
When there's new activity in a conversation, two things happen in the sidebar:
- A blue dot appears on that conversation row.
- A count badge at the top of the sidebar shows the total number of conversations with unread messages.
When you open a conversation with unread messages, a New divider appears in the message history. Unread messages briefly highlight and then fade, so your eye lands on them immediately.
Unread Thread Replies
When someone replies in a thread, the conversation itself is also marked unread. Opening it scrolls you to the message that received the new reply, which shows a "● N replies" marker. Click that marker to open the thread and read the new replies.
To clear the unread indicator on a conversation without reading every message, click Mark as read.
Search
The search box at the top of the sidebar lets you search across all your Team Chat conversations. It matches both message text and conversation names — including property addresses, buyer names, and Channel names.
- Type at least 2 characters in the search box.
- Results appear with the newest matches first.
- Click any result to jump directly to that message in the conversation.
Notification Settings
Click the gear icon in the chat window to manage your notifications. You can turn the following on or off:
- Email — receive an email when you're @mentioned.
- Sound — play a sound when new messages arrive.
Good to Know
- The count badge tracks conversations with new activity, not individual messages — so one conversation with ten new messages still counts as one.
- Search is a fast way to find a Record Chat when you can't remember which section it's in — just type the property address or lead's name.
