Report dimensions determine how data is grouped and displayed inside a KPI report. Instead of creating multiple reports to answer different questions, dimensions allow you to view the same underlying data from multiple perspectives. This flexibility lets one KPI system support leadership visibility, operational oversight, and individual performance tracking without duplicating effort.
What Are Report Dimensions
A report dimension defines how records are organized in a KPI report. By changing the dimension, you change the lens through which the data is viewed, not the data itself. This makes it easy to reuse metrics across dashboards while tailoring insights to different audiences.
Most KPI reports in FreedomSoft use one of three dimensions: Account-Wide, By Pipeline, or By User.
Account-Wide
Account-wide reports combine all relevant data across your entire account into a single view. This dimension is used to answer high-level business questions such as overall volume, activity, and performance.
Common questions answered by account-wide reports include:
How many leads, offers, or contracts exist overall
What total activity or revenue looks like right now
How the business is performing as a whole
This dimension is most commonly used for executive dashboards and command-center views.
By Pipeline
Pipeline-based reports group data by pipeline stages or workflow progression. This dimension helps you understand how records move through your process and where progress may be slowing down.
Common use cases include:
Viewing how many records are in each pipeline stage
Identifying bottlenecks between stages
Monitoring overall flow from lead intake to closing
Pipeline-based reports focus on process health rather than individual performance.
By User
User-level reports group data by individual users. This dimension is used when tracking activity, results, or revenue attribution by team member.
Examples include:
Offers made by user
Contracts won by user
Revenue tied to specific users
User-level dimensions are especially useful for acquisitions teams, dispositions teams, and managers tracking performance and accountability.
How to Choose a Dimension in a KPI Report
You select the report dimension when creating or editing a KPI report. The general process is as follows:
Go to Settings and open the KPI Dashboard
Open an existing KPI report or create a new one
Note that default reports are not editable except for permissions; to make changes, create a duplicate
Locate the Dimension setting in the report configuration
Choose Account-Wide, By Pipeline, or By User
Save the report
Once saved, any dashboard widgets using that report will reflect the selected dimension.
Changing Report Dimensions Later
If you want to view the same KPI data differently, you can reopen the report and change the dimension without rebuilding it from scratch. This allows you to reuse the same metrics across multiple dashboards while adjusting the perspective for different teams or roles.
How to Decide Which Dimension to Use
Use the Account-Wide dimension when you need a top-level snapshot of overall performance.
Use the By Pipeline dimension when you want to understand workflow stages, flow, and bottlenecks.
Use the By User dimension when you want visibility into individual contribution or team output.
Many FreedomSoft accounts use all three dimensions across their reporting setup to support leadership, operations, and performance management.
